There is a big experiment starting today at an experimental facility near Geneva… well yeah experiments are carried out at experimental facilities otherwise what would be the use for such facilities… but I must say it all sounds very interesting and dramatic.. an underground tunnel, years n years of construction, shiploads of money, support of thousands of computers blah blah n blah… its called the big bang experiment and the scientists are trying to create the moment right after the big bang happened…and then we were created… heh .. or rather I’m sure there were a few other steps in between…..Hawkings bets a 100 dollars that it wont work or rather they will not be able to find what they term as god’s particle… just a 100 dollars?? makes me think they will probably find what ever they want to find…anyways as cool as it all sounds… I’m sorry I hated physics and never understood a word that was talked about it…confession time:: I did try and learn a bit of it in school and then there was this honest but failed effort to read Hawkings… but but but the whole process sure is exciting…so yayy!!!!
One big bang happened and then the universe happened and then earth happened and then we happened to it! With a experiment like this I don’t know what we are seeking…some say it’ll be the end of the world…if only the end of the world came every time someone predicted it or speculated …we sure seem to have a life span of 10 cats… andddddd they say the test could cause giant black holes and we would get sucked into it… I’ll be looking for such unusual gravity pulls for sure… : )

Whatever maybe the outcome of this experiment… good luck! And way to go! if we are that much closer to understanding what happened when it all began (pretty intriguing!) and then hey maybe it could all begin all over again somewhere else and well when we are done with this world we could travel to another… and leave poor little wall-e to take care of earth01.. heh naah i think we will take wall-e along too!

hehe you give Stephen Hawkings too much credit – the Brief History of Time was not more than an overhyped NYT best seller. At this point, I would take wikipedia over Hawkings. The experiment seems contrived to me, because if they do find “god’s particle” someone is going to come along and ask – so… how did god’s particle come into existence? And then loopdeloop here we go again.
But hey experiments are cool, it would suck to not even try and figure out the beginning.. and this is definitely very 21st century. Not enough 21st century stuff happening these days – no flying cars yet, but looks like you might be able to pick up a personal jetpack at walmart in a few years 😉

i completely agree! experiments need to be done and we were way overdue on the oh-so hyped 21st century stuff… like the flying cars as you mentioned – even the insta food machino robots.haha. And so the attention on this… if tomorrow they do find anything…bravo! either ways search for newer stuff would go again which is good.
ps:: to me Hawking’s book was scary enough ages back whenever i did pick it up…wiki physics would psych me just a bit more 😉
